The Baker Street Irregulars is sponsoring two “official” events for the January 2021 BSI Weekend – the Distinguished Speaker Lecture and the annual BSI Dinner.
Registration is now open. Because of the Coronavirus pandemic, these will be online/virtual events held using Zoom. In addition to the BSI events, other Sherlockian groups will also be hosting virtual meetings, as noted below.
The BSI Distinguished Speaker Lecture
Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 5pm Eastern Time (New York)
- Online using Zoom
- Open to the Public
- Free – no registration fee
- Advance registration required
- Registration closes when event reaches capacity
The 2021 Distinguished Speaker is Andrew Lycett, a renowned historian/biographer. He has written highly acclaimed biographies of Ian Fleming, Rudyard Kipling, Dylan Thomas and Arthur Conan Doyle. His Conan Doyle – The Man Who Created Sherlock Holmes was published in 2007 and was hailed as both “comprehensive and authoritative.” His latest book, Conan Doyle’s Wide World: Sherlock Holmes and Beyond, deals with ACD’s travel writing. Lycett is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and the Royal Geographical Society, and lives in North London. His lecture will be on “Conan Doyle’s Questing World.”
This year’s event will also include the announcement of the winner of the 2020 Morley-Montgomery Award.
We plan to have only the scheduled speakers visible and talking, so you do not need a camera or microphone to watch the Lecture.
For answers to frequently asked questions about registering and watching this event, see our 2021 BSI Distinguished Speaker Lecture FAQ (PDF).

The 2021 Virtual BSI Dinner
As is traditional, the Dinner is limited to only invested BSI’s and invited guests. This year, however, since there will not be a separate dinner for The Women, they will be included as special guests.
A Digital Dinner Packet, containing PDFs of the traditionally printed mementos, will be made available to Dinner attendees. Those who wish to contribute an item to the Packet should send a print-ready PDF to <NickMartorelli@gmail.com> by Dec 10, 2020. The PDF file should be exactly how you wish your item to appear, and it should be correctly sized, cropped for on-screen viewing, and in high resolution (300 dpi graphics).
