Otto Penzler receives Two-Shilling Award from Michael Kean at 2024 BSI Dinner

The BSI celebrated its 90th anniversary as part of the 2024 BSI Weekend. Held in New York City from January 10-14, the Weekend included the BSI Dinner on Friday, January 12.

In recognition of the anniversary, the Yale Club Library hosted a special display of BSI historical material. It featured the BSI’s official gavel, made of wood from 221B Baker Street and given to Edgar W. Smith by the Six Napoleons.

Visitors could also see remnants from the cloth used to make the first official BSI necktie, which was made for and worn by Christopher Morley. Other items in the display cases included signed and inscribed books, a photograph and minutes from early BSI dinners, and much more.

Fourteen Sherlockians became official members of the BSI at the 2024 BSI Dinner. They are shown below with their Investiture certificates.

Pamela Wampler, the wife of Steve Doyle, was honored as The Woman for 2024. She was introduced and toasted by Mark Gagen.
