BSI 2019 Conference: Building an Archive at the Lilly Library

Registration and reservations are now open for the BSI’s conference to be held Friday November 8, 2019 through Sunday November 10, 2019 at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.

“Building an Archive: A Celebration of the Arrival of the BSI Archive at the Lilly Library” will feature more than 20 leading Sherlockian collectors, librarians, booksellers, authors and publishers. It will also include the opening of a unique and special exhibition at the Lilly Library.

Most of the conference will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn Bloomington, where the BSI has also reserved a block of rooms. Opening day events take place at the Lilly Library on the campus of Indiana University, approximately one mile from the hotel.

This conference is open to all Sherlockians, but space is limited so register now. Please note that all room reservations must be made through the BSI as described in the Conference Registration form (PDF).

The deadline for our receiving registrations is September 27, 2019.

Conference Details

The Conference will open at the Lilly Library on Friday, November 8, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. A self-guided special exhibition, “The History of the BSI Through 221 Objects,” will be available for viewing at the Library from 2:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. on that day.

Behind-the-scene tours of the Lilly Library will be led, first-come first-serve, on Friday afternoon solely for pre-registered full Conference Program Package participants; tours will start at 2:00 p.m. and run for much of the afternoon. To take a tour you must obtain a confirmation of your tour assignment in advance; this will be your ticket.

The formal Conference program will conclude on Saturday night. Sunday morning activities will consist of group breakfast, an opportunity to purchase Sherlockian material in the Merchants Room, informal socializing with friends, and then travel home.

Space is limited, so early conference registration is encouraged!
