The Remarkable Characters
of Arthur Conan Doyle.
Edited by Joel B. Silver.
Though the foundation of his lasting literary legacy is built upon the Sherlock Holmes stories, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle created a number of other unique characters. In celebration of the sesquicentennial of Doyle’s birth, a conference and exhibition dealing with these creations was held at Indiana University. This volume focuses on the remarkable characters of Arthur Conan Doyle, and contains contributions made by Doyle experts who presented at the Conference.
Edited by Joel B. Silver, Executive Director of the Lilly Library, this volume examines in detail such luminous characters as Professor Challenger, Brigadier Gerard, and Sir Nigel Loring, in addition to the world’s first consulting detective.
